Author: Brendan Wilkinson

I'm a student at the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary studying for a Master of Divinity in Christian Ministry. I aspire to go into pastoral ministry, and I have a passion for calling people of all ages away from the easy, shallow, and hollow version of Christianity that has sadly become mainstream in America today and instead, calling them to holiness, and to experience and enjoy Christ through his Word above all other things.

Reflections On My First Year Of Seminary

A little over three years ago, I underwent a seismic shift in the way I thought about God and his Word. To summarize as briefly as possible, I was confronted with the reality that God is truly sovereign over all of his creation, including the very salvation of mankind. Previously, I had only paid lip … Continue reading Reflections On My First Year Of Seminary

Providence, Plagues, and Power

If you grew up in church like I did, likely one of the main stories in the Bible that you learned of is in Exodus where Moses goes before Pharaoh and asks him to let the Israelite people go, who had been subjected to slavery to the Egyptians for over 400 years. Over the course … Continue reading Providence, Plagues, and Power

Canada Criminalizes Christianity

Almost a year ago, I wrote an article titled "They're Coming for Us," and argued that the COVID-19 pandemic gave governments across the U.S. and the world an excuse (and a poor one, at that) to either 1) shut down churches, or 2) made churches as hard as possible to operate. I made the point … Continue reading Canada Criminalizes Christianity

The Value of a Bible Reading Plan

As 2021 comes to a close and the new year is upon us, many Christians take this time to scout out a Bible reading plan (or multiple) that they'd like to go through in the upcoming year. For some, they might seek a plan that will take them through the whole Bible in one or … Continue reading The Value of a Bible Reading Plan

Celestial Citizenship

In this sermon, I cover Philippians 3:12-4:1, a lengthy passage, and draw out 5 key points that relate to being a citizen of Heaven. First, Paul wants us to see how this citizenship in Heaven impacts the way we think and live (verses 12-14).Next, we are going to see this citizenship modeled for us by … Continue reading Celestial Citizenship

Resolved: To Honor Christ Whether by Life or by Death

Continuing through Philippians at Charlestown Road Baptist Church, I cover 1:18b-26 in this sermon. In verse 18b, we see Paul's future expectation of joy. In verses 19-20, we see a resolution that Paul makes, which is the ground, or reason for his future expectation of joy. In verse 21, we see the ground of the … Continue reading Resolved: To Honor Christ Whether by Life or by Death
